Geotech's 1st Annual  "Field Days" Event



On June 25th & 26th, 2009, Geotech hosted its first annual "Field Days" event, designed to provide our clients with demos, training and hands on experience utilizing the latest tools and technologies  - without the travel and expense of trade shows and conferences. It was all NO CHARGE! The event took place at Geotech's corporate headquarters, 2650 E. 40th Ave., Denver, CO 80205.

Geotech teamed with highly esteemed industry leaders and equipment manufacturers to present and demonstrate equipment, answer questions and showcase the latest technologies. Companies presenting at the Geotech Field Days included:
AMS, Geotech Computer Systems, Grundfos Pumps, In-Situ, Ion Science, Nielsen Field School, Pace Analytical, RAE Systems, SonTek, Thermo Scientific, WTW, YSI and Assure Controls.

  

Field demonstrations included the AMS Power Probe direct push drill rig, and water level measurements by In-Situ with Level Trolls. Five training rooms with hands-on sessions were used by RAE Systems, Ion Science, Pace Analytical, Nielson Field School, Thermo Scientific, Geotech Computer Services, Assure Controls, YSI and Geotech demonstrating the latest technology and practices in data management, sampling, monitoring and remediation. More than 20 booths were in the open house type indoor exhibit area. It provided a relaxed atmosphere for networking that included complimentary food and drinks.

We at Geotech are very appreciative of our clientele and this event marked the first in a series of opportunities to give something of value back to the industry professionals who are making a difference in today's world. Plan to be here next year on June 24-25, 2010 for an even better event.

Ion Science GasClam

The world's first insitu below ground borehole gas monitor

Using portable gas detection instruments to spot check boreholes periodically is fraught with potential issues. Considerable published material exists that question whether the traditional methods of collecting gas-data from boreholes is adequate.

Numerous guidance notes from legislators and enforcers indicate that they too think the current methods are flawed. Detailed and frequent measurements are required to evaluate boreholes effectively, particularly when events occur (e.g. such as when the barometric pressure falls). Data collected on a periodic spot check basis does not give a complete picture, decisions are made based on historic set points rather than real trend information from the borehole being monitored.

Current issues

  1. Only spot check data is available.
  2. Major gas events are often missed.
  3. Lack of real data leads to misleading conclusions.
  4. Frequent and expensive site visits for spot readings.
  5. Independent borehole profiles are not available.

All these uncertainties led to the development of the unique and patent pending GasClam, designed as the definitive solution.

The GasClam can be used below ground for up to three months to measure a variety of gases, with temperature, barometric and borehole pressure giving a true long-term profile for the first time! It's the definitive method of measurement for most below ground applications.

  • Discharge of license when used as a post-closure monitor

Geotech's 9th Annual Charity Golf Tournament

In conjunction with the Ronald McDonald House Charities, Geotech Environmental Equipment, Inc. recently wrapped up it's 9th Annual Charity Golf Tournament. The tournament was played at the beautiful West Woods Golf Club in Arvada, Colorado on June 27th and included 144 golfers! Approximately $20,000 was raised for the charity with the help of our sponsors and participants.
