The Original Groundwater Sampling Disposable Filter Capsule In 1978 Geotech was asked by the USGS to come up with a way to measure the amount of dissolved metal in water for their Trace Metal Analysis program, the first water quality program in the US. Geotech’s solution was to filter water through a .45 micron membrane on a holder that would allow only dissolved metals to pass through. How to use these membranes effectively for trace metal analysis in water was developed first by Geotech. Manufactured to Geotech’s exact specifications, these flat-stock filters and holders became the first filtration systems made and sold for environmental water quality sampling. Improved products soon followed, such as acrylic filter holders. |

Other varieties of dispos-a-filters™ were soon added to satisfy the different requirements of customers, such as low volume and small capacity filter capsules. Geotech became the leader in groundwater filter sampling. Current dispos-a-filter™ capsules include High Capacity, Medium Capacity, and Low Capacity models in 0.45, 1.0, 5.0 and 10.0 micron sizes. dispos-a-filters™ are certified to exhibit non-detectable levels when a metals analysis is performed on their effluent using ICAP, ICP-MS or GFAA instrumentation. Manufactured in a Class 100 clean room, ICP-MS instrumentation was used to perform a certification for 68 metals and 7 anions in ppb range. All manufactured lots are ISO 9000 tested by an independent laboratory using EPA-approved test methods. |
"In regards to the 1.0 micron groundwater filters that we use in Florida, I am very pleased with the performance and quality of this product. In addition, to my knowledge we have never had any quality control related issues arise during the use of this product." A satisfied project manager in Florida. |

Amy Townsend-Small (Assistant Professor, University of Cincinnati) took this picture of Dr. Richard Beck and graduate student Chantal Ivenso filtering stream water near Lake Erie, Ohio using a Geotech Geopump Series I Peristaltic Pump. They set up a mobile lab in the back of their van, using the cigarette lighter adapter for the Geopump. They sampled 15 rivers in two days with this set up! |
