Pneumatic pumps are used in pump & treat applications, particularly at sites where providing electrical service is problematic, combustible vapors are present, or excessive drawdown might damage electric submersible pumps.
Total-fluids pumps pump all fluids from the well, floating product, water, and/or DNAPL. Pneumatic pumps are ideal in low-capacity applications because they can safely run dry without danger of burning out. Pump selection depends on the desired pumping rate, well yield, and the total hydraulic head lift required. Site designers should consult performance curves and data provided by pump manufacturers.

Geotech GECM (Geotech Environmental Control Module) Pneumatic Pump Controller
![]() The GECM Pneumatic Pump Controller is a unique pneumatic pump control system used for operating any downwell pneumatic remediation or sampling pump. Systems can be configured for either AC mains power or a 12VDC battery with an attached solar panel and battery charger. When the system is properly outfitted it can handle pressures up to 150 PSI (10.3 bar). Maximum depth to fluid pumping capability is 330 feet (100 m) below ground surface. Total fluid pump maintenance is greatly reduced by simplifying the downwell components and placing the timing and control mechanisms at the surface. The system can be configured to operate up to 8 wells per module. Multiple pump controls can be placed remotely at or near well heads with the air supply placed at a central location; maximizing compressed air efficiency. |
